Namche

Beautiful Himalayan morning, walked to namche, just above 12,000 feet, arrived around one, a pleasant uphill walk made easier by Tom's stories and conversations with other Trekkers, note the Finnish style, skirt. Also note Andre, our porter's shoes. Himalayan potatoes are always excellent, especially in the Sherpa stew. Monday I was in Kathmandu, Thursday in Namche, just as I hoped. Tomorrow I plan to visit the school, then talk Nima into going directly to Tengbuche. Namche is the 19th century Nantucket of the Everest climber and every trekker from all over the world, instead of whaling supplies it is the last stop for climbing supplies, Buddhist mandalas, yak cheese, chocolate and news of the outside world.
