October
27.
We
have a full service base camp, with a tent for each of us and a pad, a dining
tent and a cook! What luxury. It is a popular place this time of year, I
counted 137 tents, some of the them doubles, not counting kitchen and dining
tents. And I slept so cozy and warm. We hiked to the meadows and dropped off some
things in my weathered Black Diamond yellow tent. Tanner went on up to Advanced
Base Camp and I went back to base camp to do some drawings and sort gear, and
read the book of Alma. At dinner 8 climbers showed up to tell us about their
experiences on the mountain. Jeremiah, a guide from Denali, talked about Acute Mountain Sickness
and how hard it can be to recognize, especially cerebral edema. So be careful when your partner starts acting like a 6 year old.other climbers told outrageous stories about the toll roads in the Czech Republic and the influence of American culture on European holidays.
