Hiked
to camp one, over 19,000 feet, with a huge pack, slowly. The sun occasionally
showed through, but no one to carry my boots over the Cambrian ocean floor and
through the boulder field of Moldour. At
the slabs, which we climbed without using the fixed line, we had to be careful
of the rocks coming down from people above. All together 35 tents at camp
1. I am used to being at camp 1 entirely by myself. I am glad Tanner is here, he is strong and it is good have
someone to talk to. At the tent we had milk tea and noodle ramen. As for the
tent situation, they are all managed, so you sleep in a tent that is hopefully
empty. But, I like to sleep in my own tent.
Taboche to the west, and Ama Dablam disappearing into the clouds, the memories of base camp and everything else slowly melt into the mist.
